Thomas has an MSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Wits University in South Africa. He has a wide range of experience in the mechanical engineering field across three countries. He worked as a project engineer for a project house in South Africa, site engineer during plant construction in Namibia, plant engineer at a chemical plant in Germany and an R&D engineer at an equipment supplier back in South Africa. This wide range of experience has given him an understanding of 'the other side' - insight into the bigger picture. In his most recent position, Thomas worked as a R&D engineer for six years where he used CFD and test work as a tool to refine equipment that was supplied to the mining, waste-water and chemical industries.
In 2021, in the midst of the COVID pandemic but undaunted by the times, Thomas decided to start SimSpire. He believes that simulation as a tool has improved, become more accessible and more applicable to a wide range of industries. He holds the vision that with better models, machine learning and automation, simulation will see even greater improvement in the years to come. He believes that the benefits to efficiencies that simulation offers is enormous and absolutely necessary for sustainability, and wants to make these benefits accessible to many.
